It is the official opinion of EXIT that we probably shouldn’t all run off into the woods and start Instagrammable cottagecore family farms — mostly because it’s not that remunerative, and it’s a lot of work, and people don’t want to do it. Still, it’s worth exploring wild ideas seriously. So I read this thread, and it got me thinking.
Never kept chickens but I would definitely like to.
I personally would be more interested in not making meager $$, but trading my eggs for the neighbor's milk and their neighbor's pork. Helping out with the cheesemaking (I have done that, and imho the price of cheese is waaaay too low), etc.
